Utilizing the concept of “treal,” community leaders, Jason "JaFleu" Fleurant and Tracy Guiteau, are blazing a trail in our backyard to promote young, local talent—Exhibit Treal. They are both fine artists, and, as you’ll hear, Tracy also has a background in fashion design. But, they are also community leaders doing so much to share all they have learned in the bumps in the journey of an artist's life, be strong examples of fortitude, and really inspire and support the community's youth. Their Exhibit Treal events bring local artists together in a safe space free of the b.s. and typical pitfalls that can swallow up their talent, and instead give them a place to breathe and thrive.

In this podcast, Jason, Tracy, and I talk about all their events, why their mission means so much to them, and a little of what it's like growing up Haitian. It's a super fun, funny, and inspiring podcast!

#68 – UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHER – Chris Gug - 2016-03-15

I recently had the absolute honor of sitting down with America’s premier underwater wildlife photographer, Chris Guglielmo (or simply "Gug," as he is known in most circles). Gug is one of those rare individuals who was gifted with a passion at an early age that he has continued to grow and excel at. He has been diving and photographing marine life since he was 15 years old, and in this podcast he talks about planning and conquering his shots, the secret to his vivid colors, and demystifying some common misconceptions.

The conversation took an unanticipated (yet, highly welcomed) turn toward a discussion on environmental conservation, and we discovered our mutual passion for animal rights and species preservation. Gug gets to travel the world in pursuit of the best shots, and he seems very genuine in his gratitude for living his dream.

Raised in the Bronx, painter Herbert Weintraub captures the mid-century New York neighborhood charm in his art with such warm essence, you are immediately transported into his memory. And, now that he is living in Florida, his talents are right in our backyard.

In this podcast, I talk to Herbert about how he raised 6 kids, working hard every day to make it in life as an artist. He traveled through various art show circuits; and, though not always successful, he followed his inner passion and pressed on. Now, he is highly revered and accomplished, with his work included in some very impressive collections. Herbert is sweet, charming, and quite inspiring with a Norman Rockwell-esque style of work.
