#86 – CTCKids – DJ & Music Composer – Alex Ariete (Alexander Popovics) – 2016-07-19

CTCKid, DJ, Music Composer, and Ballroom Dancer, Alex Ariete (Alex Popovics) on the Curve the Cube Podcast

In this episode, I catch up with young and super-talented DJ & music composer, Alex Ariete! You may remember Alex as one of my very first CTC Kid from episode 11—back when he was known by his original stage name, DJ Pop Drop. Each time I see Alex out and about, it’s incredible how much he’s grown—physically and musically. Since we last sat down, Alex has continued to develop his skills as a musician—creating new original tracks, playing a bunch of gigs, traveling for different events and things, meeting amazing EDM mentors, and collaborating with different artists.

On top of that, Alex continues to excel at his dance, competing regularly and doing very well! He’s simply a powerhouse of young, ambitious, and promising talent. On the podcast, we talk about how he’s grown musically and artistically and how important his parents’ support continues to be. Catch Alex on Palm Beach FM every other Tuesday night where he is not only a resident DJ, but is also starting to conduct his own industry interviews.

I’m so excited to see where this kid goes!

#70 – CTC KIDS – Poinciana Elementary’s Taz Bots (Lego League Kids) - 2016-03-29

CTC KIDS – Poinciana Elementary’s Taz Bots (Lego League Kids) on the Curve the Cube Podcast

I was DELIGHTED to meet with a group of kids who are competing in the First Lego League tournament circuit! Morgan Domeyer, Natasha Mayorga, Garrett Reardon, and Carsten Kjaerulff are from Poinciana Elementary and members of the “Taz Bots” team learning under the direction of their coach, Gloria Gibson. Each year, the FLL’s competitions focus on a different theme, and this year’s them is the Trash Trek Challenge.

The kids and I discuss their recent competition in February, what world challenges they’ve been asked to think through and help tackle, the awesomeness that is Lego, what they like about robotics and coding, and more! They’ve earned their way to the next level of competitions happening in May: Morgan and Natasha are representing the team headed to the FLL Razorback International in Arkansas, while Garrett and Carsten are representing the team headed to the FLL Open European Championship in the Canary Islands, Spain. So, they have a LOT to look forward to with their upcoming trips and competitions!

These kids are thoughtful, extremely bright, super sweet, adorable, and the future of robotics and engineering. I mean, just check out this website of their innovative video clips to see for yourself! You will enjoy meeting them as much as I did! They do need your help getting to this next round of competition, though, and are currently raising funds to help out with their trip. So, here’s how you can help:
GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/d5p3d

Send a check: Made out to Poinciana STEM and mail it to 1203 North Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, Fla. 33435, or give to a parent of a teammate. Specify on the check memo “Tazbot Travel.”

#52 – CTCKids – MUSICIANS – KRUSH - 2015-11-17

KRUSH Kids Band on the Curve the Cube Podcast!!!

To experience a KRUSH show is to feel something akin to a type of harmonic vertigo that you never want to end. Your ears LOVE what they are hearing, but your eyes compute it as too good to be true! A pre-teen classic rock band that oozes with talent, KRUSH consistently prompts double-takes from those who experience them for the first, second, and (often) every time. With individual accolades earned, these bandmates have combined their talents to impress judges and audiences alike, earning them two Battle of the Bands wins, a strong local fan base, and the attention of music legends!

KRUSH consists of:
• Nicholas (Nicky) Rothschild - Lead Guitarist (10)
• Ben Meller - Lead Singer (11)
• Landon Caballero - Bassist (12)
• Tristan Yeagar - Drummer (12)

But, don’t let their ages fool you. These kids, while quintessential roughhousing, fun-loving boys, are also highly committed to their craft—devoting hours each week to their music, the Band, and each other. To know them is to love them; but, to see them perform is to be in pure awe!

Head to their website to find out about their upcoming shows!!

#11 – CTCKids – DJ & Music Composer – Alex Ariete (Alexander Popovics) - 2015-01-20

Alex Ariete (DJ Pop Drop)

Super-charged with youthful energy and electric talent, Alex Ariete (Alexander Popovics, formerly DJ Pop Drop) is primed and ready to take over the world of EDM!  At only 12 years old, Alex is better known as DJ Pop Drop and has played to crowds of THOUSANDS!!!  Sun Fest and the Vanilla Ice Block Party are just TWO of the venues where this young artist has wowed and entertained!

Under the guidance of DJ Supreme1 and through high-level music schooling, Alex has become a formidable DJ.  I have personally had the privilege of watching and hearing some of his performances first-hand.  He’s INCREDIBLE!!! Check out his performances on YouTube and his tracks on SoundCloud; then, go see him live!  He…is…AWESOME!!!

At this stage in his career, he feels he has outgrown the “DJ Pop Drop” persona and is ready to launch into the next phase of his career under a new name.  He shared it with me off the record, and it is perfect!  I can’t wait to see this next phase take off, as I KNOW it will!!

Watch for the announcement of his new DJ name and his album, both coming soon!

#5 – CTCKids – AUTHOR & ENTREPRENEUR – Houston Gunn - 2014-11-25

Houston Gunn Block

This fifth episode of the podcast is the second “phone”-cast, and features young author and rising entrepreneur, Houston Gunn!!!  Houston is just 17 years old, and has already authored TWO books on reaching for success, started his own publishing house, met Donald Trump, and has a goal of graduating high school as a millionaire!  He’s dabbled in real estate and private lending, while also moved to Nashville from Seattle in order to cultivate his musical career.  Have I mentioned that he has yet to graduate from HIGH SCHOOL?!?!?!  INCREDIBLE!!!

The amount of insight this kid has already developed is PHENOMENAL, and he has some really choice pieces of advice for others looking to succeed at making their own way.  He talks motivation, hard work, overcoming fear, and pursuing your passions.  There is just so much great advice gleamed from this young man in this podcast, its awe-inspiring; and, whether young or old, everyone can learn something from this guy!

I am so jazzed for all the possibilities that this podcast has inspired, too.  This kid is so impressive, I’m now considering producing a special series of “next generation” podcasts for other amazing young up-and-comers.  There is something particularly exciting about their energy and effervescence!!

Enjoy!
