Yami Avendano of Twinfinite.net on the Curve the Cube Podcast

Hey there! Welcome to episode 119 of the Curve the Cube podcast. I can't believe it's already episode 119. Thank you so much for being a listener and coming along on this journey with me. I hope you are becoming more and more of a curvist yourself, too!!

This episode features a girl I am sooo excited to introduce you to, in case you don't know her, yet. She's Yamilia Avendano, a.k.a. Yami, and she founded her uber successful video game press site, Twinfinite.net, about 6 years ago. We sat down right on the heels of her coming back from E3 and had SUCH a fun time! She may seem unassuming and even a bit shy. But, don't let her fool you. She is a force to be reckoned with, and there's simply no stopping her rise to the top! On this episode we talk about how she gets creative with her video series, whether turning your passion into a career makes it feel like a job, feeling you need to do it all (but, for everyone else), and of COURSE, some of her E3 reviews.

In a bit of a formatting toss-up (I warned you I would be playing a bit with the show's format for a few episodes here and there), I will be diving deep into the whole passion-feeling-like-a-job issue in a mini-solocast before then taking the topic to The Learning Curve. AND, you will be treated to a quick sneak appearance by one of my new favorite people, Glenn the Geek of the Horse Radio Network!

So, just a couple of quick reminders: Please check out all the shows on the Flint Stone Media Podcast Network by going to FSMPodcastNetwork.com. And, join the conversation on Facebook the the Dreamers Become Doers group. Head to DreamersBecomeDoers.com for all the info!

Alrighty, let's get into the conversation with Yami of Twinfinite.net, already! And, I apologize in advance for my massive case of the giggles!!

Entertainer Michael 'Spaz' McGoorty of the Pure Zeppelin Experience on the Curve the Cube Podcast

This super-charged, energy-filled, and insightful Curve the Cube podcast episode is brought to you by the creative electricity flowing unabated through Michael 'Spaz' McGoorty's veins. This is a man who has, through music, acting, and comedy, managed to channel his creative energy into some highly impressive projects. He becomes Robert Plant as he leads The Pure Zeppelin Experience, has starred in Jesus Christ Superstar, and is half of the comedy company duo, Casey 'N' Spaz Comedy with nephew, Casey Peruski.

And, he lends his advice to all fellow curvists as we talk about these three topics that I then take to The Learning Curve at the end:

  1. Getting booked: How do you get booked to do a show when you don't have material to show them; but, then, how do you get material to show them without getting booked?
  2. Helping others as a great way to help yourself
  3. Make your own opportunities happen

And... BIG NEWS!! Spaz has put together a fantastic offer for Curve the Cube's local listeners. If you are a fan of comedy, good times, and good drinks, then you can win a pair of tickets to join me at my special Curve the Cube table for Eats, Drinks, and Laughs on April 26th at the famous Palm Beach Improv!! The headliner that night is going to be Frankie Paul, who is hi-LAR-ious, and there will be a full bar and great music, too. So, enter for your chance to win and enjoy the fun with me, your host, Jaime!!

But, this offer is a contest! So, be sure to get your submissions in by no later than noon EST on Friday, April 21st for YOUR chance to win!!
For more information, head to CurveTheCube.com!

Thanks so much for listening. Remember to find your passion and do your thing with the Curve the Cube podcast!!

Stand-up Comedian Eddie Willcox on the Curve the Cube Podcast

An up-and-coming stand-up comedian, Eddie Willcox, is as genuine a guy as he is funny. This podcast came about practically overnight, as Eddie's energy was too infectious to wait!! #100 – ENTERTAINER – Tami Stronach - 2016-10-28

Tami Stronach of The Neverending Story on the Curve the Cube Podcast

If you're anywhere NEAR as big of a fan as I am of my FAVORITE movie of all time, The Neverending Story, then you will LOVE hearing me chat with Tami Stronach. (I mean, it's not every day you get to talk to a childlike empress!) And, it’s not every day you get to talk to a star you’ve admired for 30+ years on your 100th episode. I was absolutely beside myself.

And, what a wonderful conversation we had! Tami is as equally driven as I am to spread the message of the importance of doing what you dream. In this podcast, we explore how the film for each of us (her as a participant and me as a spectator) has influenced our lives and encouraged us to do just that. She was absolutely delightful and just a pure joy to talk to. This podcast came about following an exchange she and I had on Twitter after I took my son to a special screening of The Neverending Story. It was a magical experience for me to see it on the big screen for the first time, to be able to pass on the hope of the film to my son, and to then have that experience connect me with Tami. It was so amazing, and I hope it’s the first of many great conversations with her!!

Tami has since spent her life in the love of dance with her studio and production company, Tami Stronach Dance, in which she puts together very expressive and beautiful performances. She and her family have also started the Paper Canoe Company, in which they focus on media for young children. They have their first album coming out soon; so, be sure to look out or that!!

#96 – PRO-WRESTLER – Glenn 'Thrasher' Ruth - 2016-09-20

Former Pro-Wrestling Champion Glenn "Thrasher" Ruth of The Headbangers on the Curve the Cube Podcast

Former NWA World Tag Team Champion and WWF World Tag Team Champion, Glenn “Thrasher” Ruth of the Headbangers, sat down with me and Jay “Captain KVJ” Cintron to talk about his time in the ring and how he’s working to build up the local pro-wrestling scene here in south Florida! Currently managing a YouFit gym, Glenn is also blazing a trail for others to follow his path through Enigma Pro-Wrestling.

Glenn’s accomplishments as a pro-wrestler and in the world of entertainment simply cannot be short-changed. He has the medical history full of broken bones, bruises, strains, and pops to prove he left his blood, sweat, and tears in the ring every time he performed! So, be sure to go out to an Enigma event and support his local effort to inspire the careers of others.

Special thanks to Jay for making this episode happen and for co-hosting!!

#58 – MUSICIAN, DANCER, AND ACTOR – Tori Lynn Jones - 2015-12-29

Tori Lynn Jones on the Curve the Cube Podcast

I first met Tori Lynn backstage at WRMF’s No Snow Ball, where she and I geeked out together over seeing Adam Lambert walk down the hall toward us, and the rest was history! So, when I asked her to be on my podcast, I could think of no better place to record than in the shadows of where we met: outside of the Mizner Park Amphitheater in Boca.

A naturally-gifted singer and performance artist, Tori Lynn won her shot at opening for Adam Lambert and Third Eye Blind at No Snow Ball by winning WRMF’s Dirty Voice Contest.

From early releases like "Labyrinth of Love" and "Nobody but Me" to her latest tracks, including “Mama Said,” “Young and Free,” and “Fading Lightz,” Tori Lynn has garnered an incredible following. And, she has great affection for her fans! Her motivation is spreading positivity and inspiration, along with raising awareness for an incurable disease that has affected her family: Cystinosis. Please visit Cystinosis.org to help support her cause!

A triple threat of singing, dancing, and acting, Tori Lynn is an absolute show-stopper! Connect with her at iamtorilynn.com and watch out for her upcoming college tour. And, of course, be sure to follow her all over social media:

Zach Rance Block

Zach Rance is a great example of a person living out loud, in the moment, and 100% as himself.  From deciding to enter the world of “reality” television in the Big Brother house to now putting much of his life on a live stream through younow.com, what you see with Zach is what you get.  He speaks his mind, wears emotions on his sleeve, and doesn’t give a crap what people think.

What I find most fascinating about Zach, however, is how determined he is to build his own successes and how he has thought outside the box to do it!  Though he didn’t strategize for his #BB16 afterlife before going into the house, through using social media and capitalizing on his creative thinking, Zach has managed to maintain and build his online following of fans, affectionately referred to as “Zacharoos.” On this podcast, he shows these fans much love, talks a bit about his family, lets out some feelings about the House, and much more.  Though his passion may come across a bit rough around the edges, Zach is a true sweetheart with a genuine spirit.

I’m a big fan of Zach’s belief of being himself and working hard to keep his momentum going.  With his putting out music, entertaining his fans daily, and crafting his debut book, it is hard to imagine looking back several years from now and not seeing Zach as a fully accomplished, self-made man.  He is on a skyrocket right to the top! Find him on SnapChat, Twitter, and Instagram as @RanceyPants!

Scotty Fusion Block

Practically since BIRTH, Scotty Fusion has been destined to entertain.  It’s been his LIFE, and what a life it has been!  In an attempt to NOT ruin the podcast with any spoilers, you are about to be clued into:

  • The cornerstone brand he landed his first gig with;
  • Legendary movie sets he’s been a part of;
  • When he’s lived a life at sea;
  • The “you’ll never see it coming” connection he considers a mentor and close friend;
  • The weirdest Christmas Eve happenings claim I’ve EVER heard;
  • And, oh so much more……!!!

Scotty is an accomplished actor, director, production technician, magician, graphic designer, photographer, and cool soul. He’s goofy, weird, talented, and very passionate, and his podcast will inspire you like no other!

#18 – PODCASTING AND MULTIMEDIA – Adam Rymer, President of Nerdist – 2015-02-28

Adam Rymer of Nerdist Block

It's the PRESIDENT of Nerdist Industries, Adam Rymer, and I couldn’t have been more excited to talk to him!!  He grew up down here in sunny south Florida, but has seen his career skyrocket—including making The Hollywood Reporter’s 2007 “Next Generation” list of the top 35 entertainment executives under the age of 35.  Adam joined Nerdist a year ago and is positioned as one of the top cutting edge trend setters for this next phase of entertainment’s digital age.

On this podcast, Adam discusses the business strategies he’s employing to grow Nerdist from a podcast by Chris Hardwick, Matt Mira, and Jonah Ray, to a fully integrated and dynamic media enterprise.  The details he shares for cross-branding, cross-marketing, and overall business mechanics are pure GOLD!!!  Even better (for me, at least), he also gives great tips for building a podcast!!!

His career started out in management consulting; but, after a journey of soul-searching, Adam realized his passion was in entertainment.  And, the rest is history!  He is not only shifting the gears on multimedia trends, he’s exploring film production.  (Check out his film The Rover, 2014.)  If you are a business person, an entertainer, in marketing, a podcaster, or just have an overall interest in super cool people, this podcast is for you!

I am a HUGE fan of Nerdist.  In fact, that podcast was my inspiration for starting Curve the Cube.  So, I truly can’t thank Adam enough for doing it!!!  Pine Crest Panthers for LIFE!!!  Enjoy!

#2 – ENTERTAINMENT - Andrea Ocampo – 2014-10-25

Adrea Ocampo Block

This podcast was sooo much fun to record! Andrea really came to have fun!! She has been in the entertainment industry for 15 years, and has had a breadth of experience and successes. She is currently (amongst many other things) the arena host and reporter for the Florida Panthers and is spreading her wings in the world of acting. Andrea has touched just about every corner of the entertainment industry, and now is focused on growing her company and relaunching her blog, Media-Gypsy, which focuses on helping others pursue THEIR dreams.

We sat down with some wine, and she got REAL!!  Andrea talks about her entry into the industry through dancing and cheering for the Miami Dolphins, the struggles of coming up, and her future goals. We got into the pressures that women face in particular in entertainment, the pitfalls that people in general often face, and what it really takes to keep the gears running toward success.

She was a delight, seriously funny, and allowed me the opportunity to totally geek out with her about horror movies and zombies. Simply stated, Andrea was SO MUCH FUN, and I can say I’ve walked away from this podcast with a new friend!!!
